How many of you know someone who buys textbooks for nostalgic purposes? This is the text from my first ever online course that I took as a senior in high school–not through the school; I signed myself up and my parents paid for it but I loved that experience because I was so shy and I was the youngest person in the class and so distance learning let me be expressive and popular in an online venue that I probably wouldn’t have had the confidence to be otherwise. A great experience. And I had walked across this Roman aqueduct–Pont du Gard in southern France–the summer right before I took the class! A fortuitous sign, I thought!
